Terms and Conditions

To become a member, you must read and accept the following terms and conditions of use:

Membership is limited to individuals and organizations working in the field of international qualifications recognition and/or assessment in order to share intelligence, best practices and develop partnerships. Members must be subject-matter partners on issues related to international qualifications assessment and/or recognition. It is not a website aimed at individuals or organizations looking for information on how to get credentials and qualifications recognized. 

1. Creating and Maintaining an Account

a. As a registered member, any information that you contribute will be associated to your name and your organization.

b. Information about your organization and/or yourself is required to create your account. Such information includes:

i. Organization profile: requires information about your organization, such as contact information, areas of expertise, etc.

ii. Member profile: if you belong to an organization, it is recommended you select “same as organization” for your contact information. It is not recommended that you include your personal address, phone number, e-mail address.

It is not recommended that you post personal information on this Web site. Personal information is defined in section 3 of the Privacy Act as “information about an identifiable individual that is recorded in any form”. It includes information related to age, ethnic origin, religion, marital status, home and personal email addresses, etc.

c. Information collected by the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) will be protected, used and disclosed in accordance with its Privacy Statement (included in the International Qualifications Network (IQN) Web site's Important Notices), the Privacy Act and Access to Information Act. Your information is not shared, sold, rented, traded, or otherwise disclosed to any outside third party except with your consent or where authorized and/or required by law.

d. Your email address will be used to confirm your registration details, password (and for sending new passwords should you forget your current one), and to send you information through mailing lists to which you have subscribed. IQN Web site’s mailing lists are opt-in, and therefore you will only receive messages if you indicate that you wish to subscribe to one or more of the topical mailing lists.

e. You may at any time modify your profile and delete your account. Once deleted, you will no longer have access to your account. However, the content that you have contributed will remain online.

f. Your profile information is retained by International Qualifications Network Web site only so long as required by law or to fulfill the purposes for which it has been collected. Updating or deleting your profile will be interpreted by CIC as consent to use or dispose of your information.

2. As a member, you agree to:

a. Provide accurate and complete information for all your contributions;

b. Use the Web site only for lawful purposes and to not infringe on the rights of, restrict or inhibit anyone else’s use or enjoyment of the Web site. Without limiting the foregoing, CIC reserves the right to edit or remove contributors’ postings and/or comments, in whole or in part, that:

i. Are contrary to the principles of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms;

ii. Express racist, hateful, sexist, homophobic, slanderous, insulting, or life-threatening messages;

iii. Put forward serious, unproven or inaccurate accusations against individuals or organizations;

iv. Are aggressive, coarse, violent, obscene, or pornographic in tone;

v. Are offensive to an individual or an organization, rude in tone, or abusive;

vi. Are not sent by the author;

vii.Put forward for advertising purposes;

viii.Are unintelligible or irrelevant;

ix. Are repetitive or spamming of threads; or

x. The information does not follow the flow of the discussion.

c. Be responsible for any activity under your username and password. You agree to immediately notify the CIC if you suspect any unauthorized use of your membership, username or password. By submitting any contribution to the Web site, including without limitation text, photos, graphics or video (“Content”), you represent and warrant that you are the owner of the Content or have been granted the necessary rights to provide the Content.

d. Only contribute content of unclassified nature, which is public information.

e. Not use this Web site to impersonate someone nor will you post confidential and/or personal information about a third party without their expressed consent.

f. Have your Name and Organization referenced to all your contributions.

3. As administrator, CIC shall

a. Reserve the right to modify these Terms and Conditions;

b. Review and validate all new account requests against the criteria that defines the parameters of membership to the IQN Web site;

c. Have the sole authority to approve/deny requests for new user accounts;

d. Review and validate all initiatives against the criteria that defines the parameters for the types of initiatives that are posted;

e. Have the sole authority to approve/deny requests to post content; and

f. Moderate users’ comments.

4. Author's consent

Subject to the author’s consent, as a courtesy, CIC will post a translated version of the summary of approved initiatives

5. CIC's responsibilities

CIC is not responsible for the accuracy, quality, content, reliability or currency of any content made available through this Web site. The posting of third party initiatives, events and comments does not constitute or imply an endorsement by CIC of such initiatives, events, or comments.

6. CIC's rights

CIC has the right at any time, without notice, and in its sole discretion, to deny, suspend or cancel a member’s account to the Web site if a breach or if a suspected breach to any of the Terms and Conditions of Use occurs, or for any other reason CIC deems appropriate.
